ViNotion B.V. was founded in 2007 as a spin-off from the ‘Video Coding and Architectures’ group, part of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). The company, headquartered in Eindhoven with 19 employees, has over 15 years of experience as a fully independent entity in the field of intelligent observations. ViNotion plays an expert role in the field of intelligent observation systems based on image recognition through machine and deep learning, and embedded software for real-time processing in or near the camera. Camera systems include road-side cameras, vehicle mounted systems and drone surveillance.
ViNotion develops and offers systems for video surveillance and analysis of human and traffic flows, with a focus on safety. In addition, ViNotion offered custom development of computer vision technology for system manufacturers (OEM). Their ViSenseĀ® platform, with a large set of standard components, allows fast development of smart real-time camera systems allowing OEMs to rapidly introduce new AI-based vision functions onto the market.
Since 2010, ViNotion is developing a change detection for counter IED. In the National Technology Project Change Detection 2.0, ViNotion has demonstrated the principle of stereo cameras in combination with a set of multi-spectral camera sensors. In the EDA C-IED project VMEWI3, this principle has been integrated into an Multi-Camera Head for application on an unmanned vehicle.
For OEM partners, ViNotion is also developing surround view systems for armoured or unmanned vehicles to create situational awareness and visual interpretation. With support of the Dutch ministry of Defence, they started a National Technology Project BIRDS to study the user perception of a surround view system using a multi-camera setup on armoured vehicles.
ViNotion participated in several EU funded projects including Horizon Europe and EDA. The collaboration with the consortium partners will leverage the expertise by combining the knowledge in low-power embedded real-time video processing with defence operations.
